OVERVIEW

Mr. Jean-François Bertrand joined Tassé Avocats in 2004. Since 2008, he’s the partner in charge of the civil and commercial litigation branch.

Truly impassioned about pleading to the court, he frequently represents clients in all civil proceedings, notably in various complex cases in the areas of business, bankruptcy, insolvency as well as in the field of construction.

Over the years, Mr. Bertrand developed a specific expertise working for clients experiencing disputes amongst shareholders. With his tremendous drive and his fine negotiation skills, he finds practical solutions to every legal challenge he encounters.

Moreover, his interests for legal proceedings pushed him to teach this subject for 5 years in the Collège O’Sullivan’s Legal Studies program in Quebec City. These interest also brought him to teach, since 2011, legal proceedings to students of the Quebec Bar.

Mr. Bertrand also stands out for his human qualities, since he seats in the board of trustees of many non-for-profit organizations, and is involved in many comities of his professional corporation.

OVERVIEW

Mrs. Barabé became a member of the Bar of Quebec in 2005 and works mostly in the field of business law and general transactional law since 2006.

She specializes in business transactions, acquisitions, and fiscal reorganizations, as well as in shareholder agreements.

Mrs. Barabé is frequently mandated to practice in the field of security law, and especially the establishment of security on movable and immovable property.

Mrs. Barabé is also conducting business, professional and non-for-profit organization incorporations. Over the years, Mrs. Barabé acquired a lot of experience in dental businesses, which allows her to meet every legal need of companies in that domain, including the dealing and writing of a commercial lease, purchase and sale agreements and fee sharing agreements.

Mrs. Barabé taught corporate law to the students of Collège O’Sullivan’s Legal Studies program in Quebec City.

In 2015, Mrs. Barabé obtains her partner title, thanks to her involvement and significant contributions in the corporate and transactional department of the firm. Mrs. Barabé occupies the key position of the Corporative and Transactional department Director within our team, while she assures to continually raise the standards and quality of services offered to our clients.

OVERVIEW

After several years in private practice in various law firms in Quebec city where he practiced civil and commercial litigation, Me Jonathan Decherf joined Tasse Bertrand’s team in September 2014 and became a partner in 2017.

Jonathan Decherf graduated from Ottawa University law school with distinction. Originally from France, he also had a degree in French law and a Master degree in international litigation from the University of Toulon-Var. During his university studies, he decided to cross the ocean and move to Canada to improve his juridical English language and writing. He wanted to practice law in Canada.

Since 2016, he has been developing his business immigration practice and international mobility of individuals and corporations. Me Decherf works closely, with partners duly chosen, to find a solution concerning immigration needs for the individuals or the corporations in order to make their dream, to live and work in Québec, come true. Whenever possible, he makes sure that any business project also includes the family project, which is necessary for the success of this process.

Between 2009 and 2016, Me Decherf focused his practice in civil and commercial litigation and in business law for small and medium businesses. His practice led him to plead in front of all the judicial court in Quebec and several administrative courts.

Dynamic, conscientious and opened minded, he always listens to his clients’ needs. Aiming at finding the most favorable orientation to the file, while ensuring that it meets the specificities of the given mandate.

Since 2016, Me Decherf is the president of the French Chamber of commerce, Quebec-City section, which has for mission to facilitate the business relationship between France and the province of Quebec mainly to facilitate the integration of the new French entrants.

Ms. Jessie Grimard Lamonde graduated in notarial law from Université Laval in 2010 and get her license from Chambre des notaires du Québec in 2011. She has practiced in a notary’s office and joined our firm in January 2018.

Ms. Grimard Lamonde practices in several areas of law, but focuses his practice on personal and succession law. Organized and professional, she provides advice to protect the assets of her clients, ensure their representation, realize their estate planning, and the settlement of their succession.

She also practices in real estate law (purchase, sale, financing, servitude) and particularly for the creation or modification of condominiums. She assists the directors on the management and administration of a co-ownership.

Ms. Grimard Lamonde also practices in business law. She advises clients on starting their business, preparing different contracts and selling their business.

Born in Quebec City, Mtre Louisa Lakeb has been practicing law since 2009 after graduating from Université Laval. She joined Tassé Bertrand avocats inc. in January 2018 after practicing solo since the beginning of her professional practice.

Mtre Lakeb practices primarily in labor law, intellectual property, and civil law. She has appeared before numerous administrative and judicial tribunals, including the Court of Appeal.

Mtre Lakeb made a name for herself and received a media coverage at the very beginning of her practice by winning a major disguised dismissal case against a major Canadian company.

Mtre Lakeb is frequently asked to lead conferences covering her areas of practice including labor law, contract law, the right of access to information and intellectual property.

Mtre Lakeb is well versed in the entrepreneurial reality and is able to provide adequate and innovative solutions to a diverse clientele, whether for legal advice or litigation in the courts.

In addition to practicing as a lawyer with Tassé Bertrand avocats inc. in the litigation sector, Mtre Lakeb is also an accredited mediator for civil, commercial and labor mediation. As a result, she can serve clients of the firm or colleagues whose clients could be tempted by private modes of dispute resolution prevention or entrepreneurial succession.

OVERVIEW

Mrs. Laroche obtained a Law Degree from Laval University in 2015. She became a member of the Bar of Québec in 2017.

Mrs. Laroche has joined the team of Tassé Bertrand Avocats after she completed her internship at the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale. She practices mainly in civil and commercial litigation.

In 2016, Mrs. Laroche started a master’s degree in business administration at Laval University.
